Playwright
Mara Galeno is a Chicana theatre practitioner and current Masters candidate in Communication, Media and Theatre at Northeastern Illinois University. Her love of theatre blossomed since childhood and the support of her immigrant parents have paved the way to further ignite her passion in the performing arts. Mara has immersed herself in several venues of theatre including acting in several productions, writing short plays, directing, and teaching. Mara believes that all art is powerful enough to create social change as she continuously advocates for the lives of Chicana/o/es through storytelling while displaying anti-racist values, life-long learning, and empathy.
