Hard Pass
by Kirsten Baity
What inspired you to write this play?
Growing up, I hated most things that were considered “girly,” but makeup felt more like making art. I liked that I could decorate my face or change its appearance to match how I felt. If I didn’t like it, I could just change my makeup again. What’s more genderfluid than that? Applying makeup can be such an intimate act of care and deeply personal. I wanted to capture that.
I wrote this play because now more than ever, the world needs more stories about gender euphoria and T4T love.
