Only Real Cougars
by Tony Werner
What inspired you to write this play?
This show took place at a huge reunion, and I wanted to tell a story about people hanging out at the fringes of the party and their paranoias as they look in from the outside. Sound is also incredibly important to me as a playwright. I was curious: What if the party was music? What if these people, these wonderfully opinionated yet wonderfully cowardly people, used the music itself as a place to hide and plot?
